2014/2015 Bible Study Opportunities
Pastor’s S.O.S. Bible Study
This group, led by Pastor Paul, discusses the Bible passage for the next Sunday’s Sermon. Why attend? you ask. Cuz it’s cool, fun and you understand Sunday’s sermon better! (And occassionally you even get footnoted!) Meets Thursday at 5:30pm in the Library.
Kindred Spirits Book Club
A new small group for women started in September, 2013. Kindred Spirits Book Club is a place to talk faith and spirituality with a group of women in the middle of adulthood. This group meets in the evening once a month, the day of the week to be determined by group members’ schedules. If you are interested in being part of this group, please email Amy at email@example.com.
This fall we’ve added another adult option to our Wednesday nights — Adult Explo will meet in Fireside from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Pastor Paul will lead a book study/discussion with time for personal support and prayer. The starting schedule:
|September||“Beginning Prayer” by John Killinger|
|October||“Shiny Gods” by Michael Slaughter|
|November||“Finding Our Way, Discussing the Church and Homosexuality” by 8 U.M. Bishops|
|December||“Making Sense of the Bible” by Adam Hamilton|
Contact Pastor Paul for more information.
DISCIPLE Bible Study
DISCIPLE is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian leaders. It focuses on the disciple as learner, believer, follower, proclaimer, and servant while providing the fellowship of a small group for study, prayer, preparation, support, and servanthood.
DISCIPLE assumes that the Bible is key to renewal in the church and affirms that the canon was formed as it is in order for God to speak to us. The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God and draws upon the work of scholars to aid understanding of the Bible.
In addition to these Bible Study opportunities, Sunday School and other Classes for Adults are provided each Fall and Spring on Sunday mornings and other times during the week.
