At Lovely Lane we connect with our neighbors and our world. On June 29th, a Sunday we designated as Cyber Sunday, we let our congregation to leave their cell phones on! In fact we encouraged it. We invited our people to interact with their friends inside and outside of church while learning of the importance of innovation in our faith.
Church goers were encouraged to “check-in” on their favorite social media network, then later during the greeting time they were encouraged to take selfies with their pew neighbors and post them on their networks. Our webmaster led a tour of the new website at www.lovelylane.org. During the sermon an interactive live poll challenged their knowledge of John Wesley and innovation as they voted via text message. And as the offering plates were passed many used the QR code printed in the bulletin to make an online donation.
The last Sunday of each month in the summer is an All-Together Sunday when we all come together for one service followed by brunch rather than the typical three services we have on Sunday mornings. What a great way to worship and fellowship together.
