On Sunday, March 4th, it was announced to the Lovely Lane congregation that Bishop Laurie Haller has appointed Dr. Scott Meador to be the next Lead Pastor of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church. He will succeed Rev. Paul Wilcox who has served the church since 2007.
Pastor Scott will assume his new position on July 1.
As background, Dr. Meador currently serves as pastor of First United Methodist Church in Independence, Iowa, where he was appointed in 2010. Previously, he served congregations in Epworth and Solon.
Pastor Scott has degrees from Eastern Illinois University, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and The University of Dubuque.
He is married to Heather, a Senior Public Health Nurse for Linn County Public Health, and father to Emma, a Freshman at the University of Iowa, and Sophia, a tenth-grade student.
Pastor Scott has a passion for helping persons experience the transforming power of Christ Jesus.
The SPPRC committee had the opportunity to meet Scott and Heather on Saturday evening and we were all inspired by his energy, leadership presence and ability to connect with people.
Pastor Scott and his family will relocate to the Cedar Rapids area this summer.
The Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee (SPPRC) will provide additional details on the transition process, including the appointment of an associate pastor. In the meantime, please keep Pastor Scott and his family in your prayers as they prepare for their transition and for the congregation of Independence First United Methodist Church.
