The Lord is my strength . . . (Exodus 15:2. NIV)
A colleague once shared with me there are times in which we need to be on a stretcher being carried by others. There are also times in which we need to walk alongside the stretcher. Furthermore, there are times in which we need to carry the stretcher.
This illustration brings out the need to have a balance when it comes to receiving and giving in our faith life. There are times in which we need to be on the receiving end of God’s love and grace. There are also times in which we need to allow our Lord to work through us as we give to others. All of this comes together in our discipleship pathway, “Worship+2.”
We have been talking about this pathway in recent weeks. The aim is to balance head, heart, and hands in our spiritual life. Worship connects with the head. A small group experience engages the heart. Our hands are put to work when we serve others. It’s important we are in worship, as well as two groups in the church. Worship+2 is not meant to be legalistic, but it is a suggested way to live a whole life in the church.
Pastor Jenny will bring our preaching series, “How Do You W+2?” to a good conclusion this Sunday. However, we will continue to focus on W+2 in the weeks and months to come. Please continue to reflect on ways you can grow in your spiritual life and serve others along the way. This balance is important in all we do! Peace and blessings!!
